E rua ngā toka nui i whakamahia e ū tika ai te waka, arā, ko Toka-parore me Tū-te-rangi-haruru.
Kāore i tino tawhiti atu te pā i hangaia ai, ka mutu, he mea whakatū tētehi kōhatu whakamaharatanga i te tau 1940 hei tohu whakanui i te ūnga o te waka. He tapawaru te tūāpapa e whakanui nei i ngā tamariki tokowaru a Rangitihi.
Kua whā rau tau nuku atu rānei ngā uri e noho ana i Maketū.
I tērā wā, ko Maketū tētehi teihana hokohoko hirahira.
Ahakoa ngā tohe me ngā whawhai, i whakatūhia tonuhia ngā pā, ngā wharenui, tētehi whare karakia me tētehi pou tāpeta.
Qualities: Innovation, identity, relationships
