With Special Thanks To

Ngā Pūmanawa e Waru (NPeW) Education Trust
For their foundational contributions and continued support.

The late Angus H. Macfarlane
A respected Te Arawa academic whose work underpins the essence of this website.

The late Beatrice Piatarihi Tui Yates – Aunty Bea
Aunty Bea was a local wahine toa:

  • A teacher

  • A writer

  • A cultural performer

  • An entertainer (Tina Tuna)

  • A volunteer

  • A Māori Warden

  • A wife, mother, aunty, and nan

  • And above all, a storyteller

She deeply understood the power of storytelling and the value these Pūrākau (stories) bring to our schools — helping our tamariki and mokopuna learn about who they are and where they come from.
